Fusing and cooling
- Place ironing paper over the complete design.
- Use low, controlled heat and keep the iron moving evenly.
- Check progress frequently instead of pressing hard in one spot.
- Stop when the beads are joined but the design still looks clean.
- Cool the piece under a flat, heat-safe object to reduce curling.
Safety: Follow the iron manufacturer's instructions, work in a ventilated area, keep hot tools away from children, and use adult supervision for young makers.
Common fixes
- Beads are not joining: add a little more even heat rather than pressing harder.
- Holes disappeared: the heat was too high or applied too long; reduce heat on the next test.
- Piece curls: cool it flat under weight and use more even passes next time.
- Colors look too similar: compare the physical beads in daylight and separate neighboring shades before placing.
- Mixed brands fuse unevenly: different bead formulas can melt at different rates; test before combining.
